One in four fear slump will put an end to their retirement

ONE-in-four retired people are worried the recession will force them back into the workplace, a new survey reveals.
The study of people aged over 55, carried out for a new website targeting the age group, also found almost half of those currently employed are considering postponing their retirement until they see signs of an upturn.
When the country's financial plight was put to one side, the survey continued to throw up some interesting results. Four out of five questioned classified 'old age' as 80 years old -- 15 years higher than the state pension age.

Almost 70pc agreed that staying young in appearance is important.
The study, for the website everymonday.ie, found that a whopping 98pc felt that the internet has revolutionised their lives.
Other results include that 75pc of the 500 questioned believe children today are far too spoilt, and 60pc do not think their children are doing a better job raising their own children.
Almost 43pc said that they are asked to mind their grandchildren once a week or more.
