The Central Statistics Office (CSO) said this morning that the number on the Live Register in September was down 10.1pc on September 2014.

On a monthly basis, the number also continued to fall, with 3,700 fewer signing on than August, bringing the seasonally adjusted figure to 337,300.

It comes just days after a separate release showed that the unemployment rate slipped fractionally last month to 9.4pc. This compares to 10.9pc in September of last year.
