NTR firm backed Tea Party candidate
NTR, the toll roads company, bankrolled a controversial Tea Party-backed candidate in last week's US mid-term elections.
NTR is the largest shareholder in US biofuels group Green Plain Energy, one of the 10 biggest donors to republican Steve King, stumping up $7,200 for his campaign, according to US filings.
Steve King, who spoke at a Tea Party rally during his Iowa campaign for re-election to Congress, is best known for suggesting that terrorists would be "dancing in the street" after Obama was elected as his middle name is "Hussein". He later distanced himself from that comment. NTR had no comment.
