The website of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) remains offline after a suspected hacking attempt on Monday morning.

The measure to host the site with no connection to NTMA’s IT systems or operations was made after "an unauthorised attempt to publish content" on Monday morning.

The unauthorised attempt was made from a remote source - and the NTMA's standard protocols took effect as soon as it was detected.

According to the NTMA, this suspension has no impact on the agency's IT systems or operations.

A spokesperson said that access to the website will be restored as soon as possible.

However, the website has now been offline for at least three hours.
