NCA chief in situ for amalgamated quango posting

ONE plum job to be filled soon will be the head of the new quango that incorporates the existing National Consumer Agency (NCA) and the Competition Authority.
Pension Ombudsman Paul Kenny took the unusual step recently of publicly criticising the fact that the new post is in the gift of the Government rather than the Civil Service Commission.
The office of Tanaiste, which will be tasked with filling the post, was unable to comment yesterday due to industrial action.
But at least the Tanaiste won't have pick between the heads of the existing quangos; the Competition Authority's top slot will be vacant following Bill Prasifka's departure, but the NCA's Ann Fitzgerald (above), a former chief executive of the Irish Association of Investment Managers, is very much in situ.
