Wholesale retailer Musgrave has agreed a €15m contract with Electric Ireland to supply its renewable energy needs.
The country's largest electricity supplier, part of ESB, will provide power to 48 Irish Musgrave sites, including 39 here and nine in the North.
Musgrave wants to achieve an ISO energy management standard so Electric Ireland will also provide energy- auditing services for this.
Musgrave, which is active in the UK and Spain as well as Ireland, owns several prominent retail brands including Supervalu, Centra, Londis and Superquinn.
