IT's ironic that the head of Aer Lingus, which faces a takeover bid by Ryanair, was one of the guests of honour at the launch of a book aimed at teaching businesses to survive in tough times.
Senator Feargal Quinn's latest publication, 'Mind Your Own Business', was launched in Dublin last night, with Christoph Mueller and legendary civil servant Dr TK Whitaker in attendance.
Mr Quinn uses real life examples in the book to explain how a business can survive and even thrive during a recession.
Aer Lingus will announce results this morning, and they will be keenly observed given the Ryanair bid.
The State's former flag carrier has had its own troubles in recent years, plagued by threatened union unrest amid cost-cutting proposals.
It has survived the storm and the stiff competition from rival Ryanair. Its share price has been steadily rising.
Mr Mueller, who has also run airlines which have been forced to close, knows the ups and downs of doing business in tough economic times.
