Medical supplies firm announces 100 new jobs in Roscommon
A medical devices firm is to create 100 jobs in Roscommon.
Harmac Medical Products will expand its factory in Castlerea and take on the extra staff over the next five years.
Richard Bruton, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, said: "It represents a firm vote of confidence in our skilled workforce and our competitiveness by a leading US medical devices company, and will make a huge difference to 100 families.
"I am determined to build on this announcement to ensure that thousands of families across the country can get similar news over the coming years."
Harmac's expansion will take the company's total workforce in the region to 282.
John Somers, Harmac chief executive, said: "Harmac's investment in Castlerea and in the west of Ireland over the past 13 years has been a great success. We are proud to announce this major expansion to support our current customers and provide capacity for significant new opportunities."
The development is supported by IDA Ireland. The investment agency's chief executive Barry O'Leary said: "The medical devices industry is a very important sector and Ireland continues to win a significant share of mobile foreign direct investment in this area."
