Glanbia group managing director John Moloney was yesterday presented the IMCA -- Institute of Management Consultants and Advisers -- Annual Medal.

The award recognises the achievements of Glanbia plc from its origins in the Irish co-operative movement to strong positions in key food markets and sectors around the world.

The award was presented to Mr Moloney in recognition of his role as group managing director of Glanbia plc over the past 10 years.

Speaking in Dublin at the medal presentation, IMCA president Tony O'Brien said: "The agri-food sector is one of the key drivers for our economic recovery and much-needed export-led growth.

"The sector is unique in terms of its export content and high usage of domestic raw materials and services which generate significant value-add in the Irish economy.

"It employs more than 135,000 people and has exports valued at nearly €8bn a year, with, for example, over 85pc of dairy products exported."

Accepting the IMCA Annual Medal, Mr Moloney said that he had been privileged to lead a great team in implementing the transformational journey for Glanbia over the last 10 years.
