Eugene McErlean, the former AIB auditor who was forced to leave the bank after challenging its foreign exchange overcharging, has been appointed to a key European Commission Group on derivatives dealings.
McErlean was nominated by Transparency International. The expert group will be making recommendations to the Commission on how to reform trading in this controversial area.
The measures it suggests have the potential to make a significant impact on derivatives trading in Dublin's International Financial Services Centre.
