It's been a good year for Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard with their Jameson 18 Year Old Limited Reserve, Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve, Midleton Very Rare and Redbreast 15 awarded gold medals at the 2010 International Spirits Challenge.
The International Spirits Challenge (ISC) is said to attract a rich and diverse line-up of entries, judged by specialists.
The strength of the ISC apparently lies in its independence and the diversity and quality of its tasting panels -- including blenders, distillers, importers and journalists.
To achieve a medal, a whiskey will have gone through five or six levels of blind tasting. Barry Crockett, Jameson's Master Distiller, was delighted with the win.
"These awards are a worldwide testament to the quality and craftsmanship of Irish Whiskey," he said.
