Lining out for Bothar's Santa hat world record

Kathryn Hayes

THE home of Munster rugby will be a sea of red for another reason today when international development agency Bothar attempts to break a world record at Thomond Park.

Rugby fans attending the Magners League clash between Munster and Cardiff, will attempt to break the world record attempt for the greatest number of people wearing Santa hats at a given time.

Bothar will be on hand to distribute up to 20,000 special Santa hats outside the grounds before the match.

Irish and Welsh fans will be asked to unite briefly before kick-off, when everybody will be asked via the public address system to wear their special Bothar Santa hats for one minute to establish the world record.

Peter Ireton, Bothar chief executive, said: "The Santa hats will bring some festive cheer and fun to the stadium and give poverty-stricken families in developing countries the help they need to help themselves."

To give the gift of an animal this Christmas call Bothar on 1850 829 999 or visit www.bothar.org.
