EU chief Jose Manuel Barroso says the European Commission will support Ireland as it seeks to exit the bailout.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny says Ireland can provide a message of hope to the rest of the EU if it can successfully complete the bailout programme and re-enter the international markets.
Mr Barroso, the European Commission President, says he has always emphasised the importance of solidarity with Ireland.
Mr Kenny, Mr Barroso and Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore were speaking at the end of a meeting of Government ministers with European Commissioners as part of Ireland's EU Presidency.
