Jobs boost as UK web company expands into Ireland
Thursday July 30 2009
UK search engine consultancy FirstFound is launching a Dublin agency, creating 10 jobs now with scope for as many as 30 by the end of the year.
"We were looking to expand and Dublin was the obvious place," said Chris Bellamy, who founded the nine-year-old company.
"There are agencies that have set up search engine arms, but there's absolutely a market for a dedicated search engine agency, which is what we are."
He added that the "fantastic amount of talent" in the jobs market in Ireland was also a major plus.
Interviews
FirstFound is holding interviews for customer service agents today and tomorrow and will soon advertise for account managers and sales people.
"The first tranche will be about 10, but we'd hope to have 25 to 30 staff by the end of the year," Mr Bellamy said.
The company has taken offices in Mount Street and is investing an initial €695,000 in the Irish project.
Based in Manchester, FirstFound specialises in helping companies optimise their websites so they perform well in search engines.
The company has 6,000 clients in England and is on target for a turnover of €5.2m this year. Mr Bellamy said he hoped the services would prove similarly popular in Ireland, where prices would start from as little as €1,300 a month.
