Paypal, the global online payments firm which last week announced plans to hire 1,000 people in Dundalk, Co Louth, said it believed that Ireland would weather the euro economic crisis.
"We are fully confident in Ireland," Louise Phelan (above), the Laois-born vice-president of PayPal said. "The current leadership are doing the right things."
"We can't control what happens in the eurozone. Our decision was based on having access to the right talent, languages and locations to fill the positions," she said.
"It's been an incredible journey, when we opened our Dublin office in 2003 we supported customer services for the UK only," she said. "By the end of 2012, we will support 14 European languages."
