INM adds new non-executive

Maeve Dineen

Independent News & Media (INM) has appointed Bengt Braun as a non-executive director and a member of the audit committee.

Mr Braun is the vice-chairman and former chief executive of the Bonnier group, one of Scandinavia's largest, most integrated and successful media groups.

His appointment ensures that at least half the board is now comprised of independent, non-executive directors, thereby complying with the Combined Code on Corporate Governance.

In addition, INM said that its various board subcommittees have also been reconstituted to ensure full compliance with the relevant provisions of the Combined Code.

Commenting on the appointment, INM chairman Dr Brian Hillery said: "INM is delighted to welcome Bengt to the board as a non-executive director. He brings a depth of international multi-media and brand experience and independence to our deliberations.

"His appointment on the audit committee delivers on the company's stated commitment to adherence with the recommendations of the Combined Code," he said.
