In the groove: €600k for ticket firm

A NEW Irish start-up hopes to challenge the might of Ticketmaster by offering a low-cost mobile ticketing solution.

Led by DJ and sound system designer Liam Rabbitt, the new business, called Ticketfriend, has raised €600,000 in seed capital from private investors. Rabbitt said his ticket sales system had already been used successfully by 1,000 people for 2FM DJ's Jenny Greene's Electric Disco in Cork last December.

"We can deliver tickets at between 15 per cent and 40 per cent cheaper than what's currently available," Rabbitt said, adding that Ticketfriend had already hired searchengine optimisation specialist Conor Mulcahy to work with the company on integrating its offering with social networks to deliver users a better experience.
