ALMOST 500 new jobs have been created by three multinational operating here, the IDA announced today.

ICT giant HP is investing €45m in a new research and development expansion which will head to the creation of up to 280 jobs in Galway and Kildare.

Abbot Pharmaceutical is creating 175 jobs at its Sligo plant.

In addition, Big Fish Games is expanding its Cork facility adding on 30 new jobs.

“Today is an excellent day with the ‘Invest in Ireland business forum’ strengthening Irish- American business links, by highlighting to US business leaders the many advantages of investing in Ireland,” said IDA chief executive Barry O’Leary, speaking from New York.

“I am absolutely delighted it coincides with the announcement by three leading US multinationals that they will be investing further in Ireland, creating almost 500 new jobs. These IDA supported investments are spread across Ireland in our target lifescience, ICT and digital media sectors.”

IDA Ireland is supporting all three investments.
