How the figures could add up for the dairy co-op

The shares game

  • 293.5 million -- the number of Glanbia plc shares in issue.
  • 159 million -- the number of plc shares held by Glanbia co-op.
  • 102 million -- the number of plc shares Glanbia's co-op expects to sell to fund the dairy business acquisition.
  • 57 million -- the number of plc shares Glanbia co-op will be left with after the dairy deal.
  • 28.5 million -- the number of plc shares Glanbia co-op will be left with after it sells another tranche in September




The earnings game



  • €70m -- the "sustainable cash earnings" of the diary business as valued by the co-op.
  • €45m -- the cash earnings of the dairy business in 2009.




The valuation game



  • €300m -- the amount the co-op will pay if they sell their plc shares at €2.25.
  • €320m -- the amount the co-op will pay if they sell their plc shares at €2.65.
  • €343m -- the amount the co-op will pay if they sell their plc shares at €3.10.
  • €353m -- the amount the co-op will pay if they sell their plc shares at yesterday's close of €3.30.
