Grammy winner says music biz is in 'freefall'

A DUBLIN TV production company which has filmed concerts for Neil Young, The Frames, Norah Jones and U2, is about to become one of the latest victims of the recession.

A liquidator will be appointed to Solo Too, which was set up by music producer Ned O'Hanlon in 2003, this week. Before setting up Solo Too, Mr O'Hanlon did much of the TV and film work for U2's Achtung Baby. He also won a Grammy for the U2 video Zoo TV Live from Sydney. He said that conditions in the music industry were "very difficult".

"The music industry is in a state of freefall," said Mr O'Hanlon. "The contracts you get today are a lot less than you got before. There's also a lot of uncertainty about the contracts you're going to get."
