Grafton Street Bewley's to reopen in February or March
The iconic Bewley's cafe on Grafton St will reopen in February or March - around six months later than originally planned - after restoration work is completed.
The cafe was closed in February as it sought to focus on its ground-floor offering and reduce losses.
Chief executive John Cahill told The Irish Times that the delay was due to the sensitive nature of the work and a decision to broaden the work's scope.
Newly filed accounts show the company behind the cafe lost €3.9m last year before tax, compared to a pre-tax profit of €2.7m in 2013. The swing was due to exceptional costs relating to its lease on the Grafton St premises.
