Glimmer of hope in jobs data
IT'S about time we had a little good news on the jobs front.
Figures have revealed that the number of available jobs edged higher last month compared with November 2011.
A total of 8,187 new jobs were available, compared with 7,345 in November of last year.
But, potentially reflecting the times in which we live, an increase in demand for auditors helped spark the rise in available positions.
The Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor didn't give a reason for the sudden need for auditing services.
One could surmise that it may simply be down to the time of the year and the fact that some companies may be preparing year-end accounts.
Or, perhaps, in the straitened times in which we find ourselves, firms are beefing up their audit capabilities.
Whatever the reasons, it's nice to at last have a positive story from new jobs data.
