GameStop is in talks with retail landlords to open more Zing Pop Culture stores after officially opening the second Irish outlet in Cork yesterday.

GameStop's Northern Europe managing director Niall Lawlor told the Sunday Independent that it was looking at "all of the well-populated areas around Ireland".

The stores sell pop-culture items like Pokemon and Disney toys, and Marvel and Star Wars collectibles. The new Cork store has created five jobs initially, with more set to follow.

"We think that it's quite unique, it's one of those places you have to keep coming back to because we keep changing the inventory," Lawlor said. Its first European store was located on Dublin's Henry Street.

"Ireland is the first country in Europe that we've opened them in and we're now starting to expand them beyond Ireland. We've just signed a couple of deals for Sweden, one for Norway and there's one in France, and more coming in Germany and Italy," Lawlor said.

Products that will be on sale in the Zing stores include the 'Batman egg cup and toast cutter', the 'Star Wars Death Star mood light', and the 'Star Wars Turtlebeach sandstorm headset'.
