STAFF at two Game stores in Cork city are staging a sit-in over their shock closure..
Seven staff at the St Patrick Street branch, in the city centre, and nine at the suburban Mahon Point Shopping Centre branch were awaiting the outcome of a meeting between managers and the company in Dublin.
The Cork shops were among 14 shops in Ireland and 263 in Britain which closed yesterday when Game went into administration.
Game has eight outlets in Dublin, two in Cork as well as outlets in Limerick, Galway, Monaghan and Athlone.
Staff at the St Patrick Street branch in Cork slept on the premises overnight, while staff at Mahon returned this morning to begin their sit-in..
Barry Lynch, the Deputy Store Manager, said they are not prepared to let anyone remove the stock until they have been fairly treated.
