Gaelectric snaps up O'Brien
FORMER Airtricity stalwart Ciaran O'Brien has upped sticks and been appointed non-executive director at Gaelectric.
The Irish wind-energy company described Mr O'Brien as a leading figure in the renewable-energy business in the United States, having founded Airtricity's US business and then gone on to found the US-based Wind Capital Group.
He also served as Airtricity's chief accounting officer in Ireland.
Such is his level of experience that Gaelectric bosses have described his addition as "invaluable". "His track record in concluding major deals in the energy space will also help guide and inform our strategy to realise further value for our investors," said Brendan McGrath, Gaelectric chief executive.
Mr O'Brien said he was looking forward to working to advance Gaelectric's high-quality portfolio of projects in Ireland and the UK.
"Over the next five years, Gaelectric plans to spend over a billion dollars to build out its current development projects across the markets in which it operates," said Mr O'Brien.
