Key steps have been agreed towards the merger of Ireland's two major organisations representing 4,000 people in the property and construction sectors.
Both the councils of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and the Irish Auctioneers and Valuers Institute have approved motions to put the merger to their members at separate EGMs on the June 2.
The president of the SCS, Ken Cribbin, said: "This merger will create a stronger united voice for the construction and property sector, while the pooling of resources will ensure an enhanced and increased range of services for members."
A spokesman for SCS said the organisations have yet to declde on some key questions including: how the merger will effect the SCS relationship with RICS; international recognition of differing qualifications; the likely name of the new organisation and the likely director general of the merged organisation.
