Finnan steps down after six years in EBS role

EBS finance chief Emer Finnan has left the AIB-owned building society with immediate effect to "pursue opportunities elsewhere", it emerged this week.
Staff at the former building society were informed of Ms Finnan's decision to leave in an email from EBS chief Fergus Murphy on Tuesday morning.
Reports of her departure had been circulating in the building society for several days. Mr Murphy noted that Ms Finnan had "overseen a number of important initiatives" during her six years at EBS.
No reason was given for the departure and no indication was given of her future plans. She is a former member of the RTE authority.
EBS's financial function would have changed markedly when the institution merged with AIB earlier this year, since the one-time building society would no longer have been required to file independent returns.
In his address to staff, Mr Murphy praised Ms Finnan's "outstanding contribution" to EBS.
EBS's plans for filling Ms Finnan's role have not yet been disclosed. News of her departure came as staff picketed EBS's head office in protest at the failure to pay the customary "13-month payment" for Christmas.
EBS said it could not make the payment as it was deemed a bonus by the Department of Finance, but offered interest-free loans to tide staff over.
Staff voted overwhelmingly for industrial action, including this week's picket.
