FBD Insurance's Andrew Langford steps down
The head of insurer FBD has stepped down with immediate effect.
Irish Stock Market listed FBD Holdings announced that Andrew Langford has informed the board of his decision to step down.
He will be replaced on an interim basis by group finance director Fiona Muldoon, formerly of the Central Bank.
"After 19 years with FBD, including seven as CEO, I believe the time is right for somebody new to lead the company through its next phase. I have really enjoyed the challenges and have been fortunate to be part of a great Irish company working with the best people who always go the extra mile for our customers."
Andrew Langford joined FBD as in 1996 as group financial accountant.
In December 2004 he was appointed to the board as an executive director, and later became chief executive.
Prior to working in FBD, he worked in Deloitte & Touche where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Commenting, FBD Chairman, Mr. Michael Berkery said:
“The Board would like to thank Andrew Langford for his contribution to the Company over the last 19 years. I am delighted that Andrew has agreed to make his experience and services available to the Company for the next financial year in a consultancy capacity. During his stewardship, as CEO for 7 years and previously as Finance Director, FBD has grown significantly in the Irish insurance market. We wish him well for the future."
FBD is due to report financial results on August 25.
Last year the insurer’s shares were knocked after it issued a number of profit warnings.
