FBD appoints John O’Grady as chief financial officer

Insurance provider FBD has hired John O’Grady as an executive director and chief financial officer, replacing Fiona Muldoon who was promoted to become chief executive last year.

In a notice to the stock market FBD said Mr O'Grady will take up the role on July 1 this year. A chartered accountant, he’ll join FBD from Liberty Insurance where he is currently finance director.

He previously worked for Aviva and its predecessor companies in Ireland, where he held roles including finance director, claims director and operations director starting with the group in 1989 and leaving in 2013.

At FBD he will take over from Paul D'Alton, who has been interim chief financial officer since October.

 FBD chairmanMichael Berkery, said: I am very pleased to announce John's appointment to the Board and as Chief Financial Officer.  I look forward to John's contribution to FBD given his wealth of experience in the general insurance industry in Ireland."
