Euro Giant getting bigger

Euro General, the company behind the new Euro Giant retail discount stores, has acquired eight additional stores over the last 12 months at an estimated average rent of €269 per sqm.

The lettings bring the portfolio of stores in the chain to 66.

In February this year it acquired three new Cork stores in Ballincollig, Blackpool and Douglas Village shopping centres. The Ballincollig store is approximately 186sqm while the Blackpool and Douglas Village stores both extend over 465sqm.

The retailer has also acquired stores in Johnstown Court Shopping Centre in Sligo, Bridgewater Shopping Centre in Arklow and The Marshes Shopping Centre in Dundalk. Other new acquisitions include stores in Northside Shopping Centre and Athlone Town Centre and Portlaoise.

Paul Fahey of Bannon, who acted for Euro Giant reported that the retailer has been keen to acquire new stores as the current economic conditions have created a wider customer base for their product lines.

Softening lease terms has also been a factor in driving Euro Giant's expansion plans.
