Energy white paper aims for 100pc carbon-free energy by 2100
The Government will this morning publish a White Paper that aims to cut carbon emissions from the energy sector to zero by 2100.
Energy Minister Alex White told RTE's Morning Ireland that he was "thinking big".
"For the first time an Irish Government has set its course on the eventual elimination of fossil fuels from our energy system," he will say later this morning at the Paper's launch.
"We will only achieve this ambitious degree of decarbonisation by engaging all citizens in energy policy and its implementation," he will add.
The Paper will see a new support scheme for renewable energy technology, and grants and tax relief to encourage the adoption of electric cars.
