Encore Oil made £11.4m in profit

OIL and gas explorer Encore Oil has said that it made a profit of £11.4m (€13.6m) for the year ended June 30, on the back of a £22.9m sale of its Breagh gas discovery in the North Sea.
The company was also buoyed by its discovery in the Catcher field in the North Sea. The stock has increased in value more than five fold in a year to 82p on the AIM market in London.
Blackrock to change its name

BLACKROCK International Land is proposing to change its name to Balmoral International Land Public Limited Company. The company, a spin-off from Fyffes, says it is changing its name after the resolution of a trademark dispute between it and Blackrock Inc, the US-based asset and investment management company.
Homebond figures show gloomy trend

FIGURES from home guarantee scheme Homebond show that the number of new homes registered last month was down by almost 40pc from August last year. Homebond said 149 new homes were registered in August, down from 245 in August 2009. There were no new homes at all registered in seven counties.
Flybe to introduce three new services
AVIATION
FLYBE is to introduce three new services to Britain following Ryanair's decision to pull out of George Best Belfast City Airport. Flights to Bristol, Liverpool and East Midlands airports will begin at the end of next month. Ryanair is withdrawing because of the delay in dealing with an application to have the airport's runway extended. Flybe said the extra flights would mean locating two additional aircraft at the airport, with the potential creation of 250 indirect jobs.
Calyx enters receivership

THE Irish entities within the Calyx Group have been placed into receivership from September 3, with the appointment of Tom Kavanagh of Irish insolvency practice, KavanaghFennell. The group, which supplies managed ICT services from operations in the UK and Ireland, will be traded as a going-concern while a buyer of the business and assets is sought.
Calyx Group employs more than 500 staff. The group was taken into private ownership again in 2007.
