Emirates is to double the number of flights on its Dublin Dubai route, CEO Tim Clark said.

He made the comment at the airline's headquarters in Dubai, following a meeting with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny. The event marked the second anniversary of Emirates' Dublin route.

The increase in flight numbers - from one flight to two - is expected to kick off in September.

Meanwhile, up to 100 new jobs in Ireland are expected to be created as result of expansion plans announced today in Dubai by Irish companies Glenbeigh Records Management, Portwest and Crowley Carbon who are targeting growth in the Gulf region.
