DublinER David McMurtry has been the single biggest Irish casualty of the stock market crash of the last month.

Mr McMurtry, who runs the €1.1bn-valued FTSE-listed Renishaw engineering firm, saw over €165m wiped off his fortune in just three weeks. Renishaw is the world leader in precision measuring instruments.

Shares in Renishaw recovered slightly at the end of last week, but remain well down on July peaks. Mr McMurtry (above), who went to the same school as U2's Bono, still holds a stake worth around €402m.
