It has launched a new initiative – €500 from 500 – to raise funds for its projects, including the rebuilding of communities in Ile a Vache, a small island that was particularly badly hit.
The campaign aims to encourage the top companies in Ireland to each donate €500 to the Haven Partnership.
The charity said yesterday that it costs €500 to rebuild one house in Ile a Vache – by the end of the campaign there will be 500 families with a home.
Haven founder and chairman Leslie Buckley said: "It is a great testament to these Irish companies to show their generosity by getting involved in €500 from 500.
"Each donation means so much to the people of Haiti and will have a direct impact on providing the basic conditions to build a better future in Ile a Vache."
Lending their support at yesterday's launch were (from left) Haven's Leslie Buckley, Ruaidhri Gibbons (KPMG), Conor McDonnell (Arthur Cox), Jeff Smith (Bilfinger Ireland), David Maguire (BNRG Renewables), and Antonia King (Haven).
