ABOUT 25 jobs will be created when an electronics retailer opens its latest store in Dublin Airport.

DSG is to open a Dixons Travel store next November in the new Terminal 2. The company just opened a store in Terminal 1, creating 25 jobs. It is expected that the Terminal 2 store will employ the same.

The move comes on the back of the opening of a two brands in one store ('2 in 1') by DSG in Blanchardstown, Dublin. It is the first '2 in 1' store in Ireland.

The '2 in 1' plan sees DSG's other brands, Currys and PC World, opening a combined store under one roof.

Last June, DSG said it would reduce a number of its stores in the UK and Ireland by nearly a quarter as it focused on this format.

"The new format offers customers the best of both world's with the home and lifestyle products offered by Currys and the latest technology and supplies offered by PC World, all housed in one large 25,000 sq ft store," said the group. The managing director of DSG Retail Ireland, Declan Ronayne, said the '2 in 1' stores would lead to greater choice for customers and that the roll-out of such stores would not stop at Blanchardstown.

"The '2 in 1' superstore format has worked successfully in DSG stores throughout Europe so it's got a proven commercial track record.

"The Airside Retail Park in Swords is the next area where we're planning to open the new format and that should be ready by the end of this month," he added.
