The northside Limerick suburb of Moyross is to receive a €600,000 investment at the Watchhouse Cross shopping premises. There had been fears that the 54 employees at the former SuperValu premises would lose their jobs

But it will reopen as a Eurospar next month -- with owner Maurice Smith confirming that all jobs will be retained by the new management.

"Plans are well underway for our new refurbished Eurospar to open on September 3," he said, adding "there is the potential to double the amount of jobs already created."

Moyross is at the centre of a multi-million euro regeneration project taking place across four Limerick areas.

Managing director of BWG Foods, operators of the Eurospar brand, Willie O'Byrne said the Moyross store would be a welcome addition to the Eurospar network in Ireland.
