Irish stock market listed DCC will buy a commercial, aviation and retail fuels business in Denmark that was previously substantially owned by Shell.

Canada based Couche-Tard is selling the business to comply with competition conditions set when it bought Shell’s Danish downstream marketing operations last year.

The sale to DCC, which has fuel businesses across the UK  as well as in Denmark, is expected to complete in the second half of this year.

DCC is buying Shell’s commercial and aviation distribution business in Denmark and a 139 site retail petrol station network as well as contracts to supply 66 more dealers.

The Shell brand will be retained through a long term partnership while the business will be merged
