Cut-price law firm to expand its business

A FLEDGLING Dublin law firm that offers cut-price experienced solicitors to multinationals and small firms alike is planning to double its specialist panel over the next "six to 12 months".
Founded last April, Access Legal has a core team of six lawyers working remotely from satellite offices, with secretarial support provided by a small head office. The lawyers are hired out to companies on a project basis, mirroring a concept that has allowed US-based Axiom Legal to build up an annual turnover of more than $40m (€29m).
"It's a tough trading environment to launch something in but we're very lean with very low overheads, and it has been going really well," said Access Legal boss and barrister John Gleeson.
He declined to be drawn on how much clients could expect to save by using his service, but said some clients had reported savings of 30pc to 50pc.
