Cumbers Fund invites projects
MEDIA professionals are invited to apply for the winter round of the Simon Cumbers Media Fund. The fund was established by Irish Aid to increase understanding of global development issues.
It is named after Irish journalist Simon Cumbers, who was killed in Saudi Arabia in 2004, while working with the BBC.
Media professionals and students are invited to submit proposals to cover a development issue, which would involve travel to a developing country.
The fund encourages proposals that promote positive impressions of developing countries. Projects that explore the issue of hunger or issues relevant to the Millennium Development Goals will be favoured, as will those that focus on Irish Aid's partner countries.
The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday, October 15. For full details, go to www.simoncumbersmediafund.ie.
