Cullen to be the Irish Sir Alan

By Nick Webb

Sunday June 08 2008

ENTREPRENEUR and socialite Bill Cullen is to front TV3's version of The Apprentice, the reality TV show.

Multimillionaire Cullen, who made his fortune as the country's foremost Renault dealer, will employ the winner of the show as his high-flying personal assistant. Screentime Shinawil is producing the Irish version.

The Apprentice, featuring Amstrad founder Sir Alan Sugar, has been a ratings topper in the UK for several years. It is not known whether Cullen will use Sugar's catchphrase "You're fired!"

The programme is to be sponsored by fast-growing lending firm Blue Cube Loans, in a major €200,000 deal.
