Crunch time for crisp maker as launch nears

By Roisin Burke

Sunday January 29 2012

WE'RE still brilliant at producing food, including tasty spud products like crisps.

Poised to become part of the €9bn national food export success story is family enterprise, Keogh's Crisps.

Just two months from launch the posh crisp brand is eyeing up export markets.

"We have been inundated by buyer interest from overseas already," said Tom Keogh, director and one member of the family of North Dublin potato farmers turned artisan crisp makers.

The brand sells through Superquinn and several Tesco stores. It is hoped that Tesco could be a gateway into the British market, and opportunities in the US are being explored.

Target turnover for Keogh's Crisps in year one is €400,000 to €500,000.
