Consumers spending up slightly in October – CSO

THE VOLUME of retail sales in October increased by O.1pc but the annual figure showed a drop of 3.8pc, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office.

However, if motor sales are excluded, the volume of sales fell by 3.6pc.



There was no change in the value of retail sales on a monthly basis but the annual decrease was 3.7pc.



On a sectoral basis, fuel sales increased by 1.7pc, furniture and lighting by 1.3pc while department store sales fell by 1.9pc and electrical goods 1.7pc.
