An employment scheme, which rewards Irish entrepreneurs for bringing employment to the country, has enabled the creation of 75 jobs in Laois, Galway and Longford.

The largest employment boost will be felt by Portarlington where automotive coatings firm Magni will be expanding its workforce by 50 people.

Elsewhere, Flagship Management in Kinvarra, Galway will be creating 15 new jobs and Longford town’s Ark Energy Consulting will have openings for 10 positions.

The IDA-backed initiative, ConnectIreland is designed to tap into the worldwide Irish presence, using this reach to bring employment home. It awards €1,500 per position created.

The announcement, due to be officially presented by Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore later this morning, comes as the second progress report for Action Plan for Jobs 2013 is due to be published.
