DUOLOG Technologies, the chip design services company based at NovaUCD in Dublin, said it is preparing to go global with the opening of a new sales, marketing and support office in Los Gatos, California writes Sharon Lynch.

The company, which develops software tools enabling chip companies to design their products faster and with fewer bugs, said it also plans to set up a similar facility in Japan later this year. Duolog said it hoped to increase revenues by 50pc to €10m during 2009 and staff by 10 to 15pc.

Ray Bulger, co-founder and chief executive of Duolog said the "exciting" expansion focused on the two "major global markets for EDA software and complex IC design".

Duolog is headquartered at NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at University College Dublin and employs 80 staff. This year it won three awards at the annual Design Automation Conference in California.
