Carrigstown is moving - but it will still remain within the leafy surrounds of Montrose.

The set of RTÉ soap opera 'Fair City' is within the eight-acre parcel of land which is being earmarked for sale.

The land could be turned into a real suburb with about 500 homes expected to be built on the site.

This sparked speculation that the set of 'Fair City' could be moved away from Montrose and even outside of Dublin.

But RTÉ director general Dee Forbes said production was not going to be outsourced. She confirmed the set was located on lands due to be sold - but that production would continue on a site moved further up the RTÉ campus.
