BWG puts €2m into Castlebar

BWG Foods is to invest €2m in the refurbishment of Value Centre Cash & Carry, Castlebar, Co Mayo, to upgrade the building, which was damaged by fire last summer.

The works are scheduled to be completed in June of this year and will see the firm provide a cash and carry service to businesses across the West of Ireland.

Following the fire, BWG redeployed all the Castlebar staff to alternative locations. Located in the Moneen Industrial Estate, Castlebar, Value Centre employs 14 staff locally and has been in operation for over 30 years.

Customers are currently being catered for from the firm's Galway centre and a temporary location in Castlebar at Spencer Park. All the staff have been retained at one or other of these locations until Value Centre Castlebar reopens.

The refurbished site will implement the most up-to-date category-management principles and planograms, which will result in more efficient and effective use of space.

This will lead to a more user-friendly experience for local customers, with an enhanced range and improved layout of products.

With 22 branches in locations across Ireland, Value Centre is a major cash & carry wholesaler with the largest network in the country. Value Centre is owned and operated by the Wholesale Division of BWG Foods.

The wholesale division of BWG Foods is comprised of Value Centre, XL retail group and BWG Foodservice – a nationwide, multi-temperature, full-line food-service business.
