Business services company creates 100 jobs

More than 100 jobs are to be created at a business services company in west Cork, it was announced today.

SouthWestern said it will recruit this year for the positions based in and around its headquarters in Clonakilty.

The firm's chief executive, Jim Costello, made the announcement after being awarded a public contract from the Department of Agriculture to track farm animal movements.

"We are delighted to have won this contract and look forward to working closely with the department," he said.

"Projects such as this provide an example of cooperation between the public and private sector to mutual benefit."

SouthWestern carries out sub-contracted administrative services for businesses in both the private and public sectors.

Clients include media, telecoms and petroleum companies as well as State agencies.

The firm already employs 450 people in west Cork and also has an operation in Poland.
