Business in brief: Ticket text starts service in Ireland

E-tickets: Ticket Text, a Dublin-based technology company that provides a low cost and convenient mobile event ticketing service, has launched its services in Ireland.
The credit card-based service is currently offering tickets for various events including the Punchestown National Hung Festival, the Arts Festival and a number of top music concerts.
Bank of America ring fences $6.5bn
CREDIT LOSSES
BANK of America, the largest US retail bank, may set aside a record $6.5bn in the first quarter to cover possible future loan losses, including its mortgage and home equity portfolios, according to a banking analyst.
Richard Bove of Punk Ziegel & Co also slashed his earnings forecasts for the bank through 2010, though he still expects a first-quarter profit.
New president of ICSA appointed
APPOINTMENTS
Brendan O'ConnoR of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has been appointed as president of the Irish Council of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA).
Mr O'Connor, who is a manager in PWC's company administration practice has been involved in promoting the work of the institute for many years.
Manufacturers told to innovate

IRISH food manufacturers will need to innovate and create specific products for specific world markets if they are to cope with higher raw material prices and increasingly demanding terms from the major supermarkets, a Mazars food industry specialist said.
Partner Tommy Doherty said there is strong anecdotal evidence that large supermarkets have been much more demanding in recent months as they negotiated terms for the coming year with suppliers.
