DRINKS company Britvic has bought a distribution service in Northern Ireland in a deal worth up to €5m

The company, which has struggled since it bought into the Irish market at the height of the boom, will buy Tyrone-based drinks wholesaler Quinn's from C&C-owned Tennents.

Quinn's has some 30 staff and had a turnover of £18m last year. The company owns distribution rights for Guinness, Heineken, Magners, Pepsi and 7UP. The deal will increase Britvic's on-trade access in Northern Ireland from 140 to 800 outlets.

Britvic Ireland's MD Andrew Richards said: "Quinn's Northern portfolio includes several 'must stock' brands that will help position Britvic as a supplier of choice for many outlets. It will also enhance Britvic's competitive position, increasing its on-trade access in Northern Ireland significantly."
